Moxa Therapy

Moxibustion, also called moxa treatment, traditional medical practice that originated in China and thence spread to Japan and other Asian countries. It is performed by burning small cones of dried leaves on certain designated points of the body. In India also in ancient times, our Siddhars were practicing the therapy using varieties of Herbals. The thermosensitive moxibustion at the yuan-source points of the liver and gallbladder meridians significantly improves the sleep quality, relieves the symptoms of anxiety and depression and enhances the therapeutic effects in the patients of insomnia differentiated as liver qi stagnation. Moxibustion is a kind of external treatment; it is based on the theory of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and it usually bakes acupoints with burning moxa wool. Moxibustion can dredge meridians and regulate qi-blood and has been used to prevent and cure diseases for more than 2500 years

Benefits of Moxa Therapy

Depending on the type of moxibustion you choose, it can be somewhat painful, or not painful at all. If you choose direct moxibustion, the acupoint will be burned at the skin. If you choose indirect moxibustion, your acupoints will not be burned, making it a much less painful procedure. It's also commonly used for breech pregnancy, when a baby is positioned feet- or bottom-first in the uterus rather than head-first. Moxibustion has been shown to be an effective way to get a baby to turn around on its own, without medical intervention. Moxibustion is used for: Pain due to injury or arthritis, especially in "cold" patterns where the pain naturally feels better with the application of heat. Digestive problems and irregular elimination. Gynecological and obstetrical conditions, including breech presentation in late term pregnancy.
