Chakra Basti





Chakra Basti, also called nabhi Basti (navel Basti), is a treatment that is applied to and focuses on the umbilical region. The region is considered a Nabhi marma in Ayurveda. A Marma area or point is an anatomical location where arteries, tendons, flesh, veins, bones and joints meet to form an anatomical structure.


Chakra Basti

The phrase Chakra Basti is from Sanskrit. The word Chakra means wheel or disk and Basti stands for a Container or retaining something inside. Chakra basti, also called nabhi basti (navel basti), is applied to the umbilical region. Nabhi the umbilicus is considered as marma in Ayurveda. The Chakra Basti is performed by filling the hot medicated oil or ghee in this dam either by gently pouring or squeezed in with cotton gauze. When the oil or ghee cools down it is squeezed out and replaced with more warm ones. The procedure does local oleation and local sudation simultaneously.

It is one of the best treatments for treating abnormal Vata. ... It benefits epilepsy, and also dysfunction of senses. Basti also enhances the immune system of the individual by cleansing the Colon. Basti also nourishes the base Prana of the body which is formed in the colon of the body. The digestive fire (Jatharagni) is located in the stomach area and normal activity is essential for the proper and complete digestion of food. It is responsible for all the metabolic processes and assists growth & maintains energy level . So it is very important to maintain Agni.
